It's Okay To Work On You!

Hey...thanks for taking a few minutes to check in with Wyld Wyrds!

I was recently having a conversation with a friend who what feeling guilty about taking time to do things for themselves and it got me thinking about that kind of perception. Why are we afraid to take time for ourselves? Don't get me wrong, doing things for others is a very commendable act and one we should all strive to do more of...but! We teach people that they are special. They are unique. They are important. Why then do we not give people the opportunity to express that inwardly? You should not feel guilty about taking a class or a long walk by yourself or losing weight.

My wife and I have been married for over 40 years and we like to spend time together and do things together. That said, there are times when we need our space. Time for each of us to go off and do whatever it is we want to do by ourselves. Alone time or "Me Time" is a crucial part of our well-being. It's these times that we can truly reflect and spend time with our thoughts to sort through things. This makes for stronger relationships in the long run.

Every morning for the last week I have been getting up about sunrise (and hopefully cooler temps) to do my morning walk. Most days I am listening to a book on tape, usually about health, and enjoying the early morning. Sadly the area that I walk in tends to have more traffic and so I use the headphones to cover the noise but I'd prefer to walk through a wooded area and listen the sounds around me. I believe there is something innate that we need from nature...from The Wyld! There is a primal connection we each need.

A side tangent. I recently posted on social media a statement from former NFL running back, now political candidate, Herschel Walker where is obviously upset about some new climate issue. He had the audacity to say that we have enough trees! I was just flabbergasted. We take away the trees and we cease to be. Sad. So very sad.

I hope everyone has a fantastic rest of your week and that you can find some time to be alone with yourself, hopefully reconnecting with nature.

Stay Wyld! -G
