And So It Begins...

 Welcome back to Wyld Wyrds!

Well, yesterday was Monday and the beginning of (hopefully) a new me. I was up early and ready to hit it. Let's look at the numbers. Again, I'm 5' 7" and to start I weighed in at 193.8 lbs. or 13.8 stone for those of you in the UK. I got out on a 5 mile walk and spent a good portion of the day just trying to move as naturally as possible.

One of the things I didn't outline in my new plan was a specific workout routine. While I think it's important that you create a routine I also don't want to pigeon hole myself to the same routine each day. I want to be able to change things up to keep it fresh. I know a lot of you have memberships to the gym and while I don't think that's bad I do believe that it is limiting and by that I mean you are stuck with whatever range of motion the machines at the gym provide which are not necessarily wholly natural. With a program similar to MovNat you get a complete, natural range of motions and believe me when I tell you...it can kick you butt!

What I have been doing has been a lot of walking as I mentioned and a lot of stretching and isometric exercises. I'm planning on doing some skipping rope and I did order a 20 lb slam ball. I use weighted juggling balls on a semi-regular basis to keep my arms toned and my juggling chops up.

Eating is going to also take front, center stage as well with this program. The main focus is going to be on portion size and of course the content. It WILL all be plant-based and as fresh and natural as I can get it. An issue I think for people who try a vegan diet is they feel they need to replace a burger for a burger or a chicken breast for a chicken breast so it doesn't matter how good a vegan analog is, it will never be a burger! You have to explore new tastes and textures...and let me tell you, there are a lot out there! Stop trying to replace things and enjoy all the new experiences.

I'm hoping to do a 5-mile walk every morning and keep it going. A friend has chosen to do his walking by following an app that tracks his progress from the Lord of the Rings aspect which is pretty cool, walking to Mordor. Whatever it takes to get you moving. That's how it's started...all good. More, very soon!
